Brass, Wind & Percussion β Together in the Park
Sousapalooza is one of Make Music Day's longest-running and most beloved national projects. Brass, wind, and percussion players gather in public spaces to sightread the timeless marches of John Philip Sousa β the March King himself.
How It Works
- A bandleader organizes a public performance in a park, town green, or plaza
- Musicians bring their instruments and receive Sousa march sheet music
- Everyone sightreads together β from former high school band members to seasoned pros
- The audience gathers to enjoy free patriotic music in the open air
Why Get Involved?
- πΊ Now in its 15th year β a proven, crowd-pleasing format
- πΊπΈ Aiming for 50 Sousapaloozas across the US for the 250th anniversary
- π΅ Free sheet music provided for all parts
- π₯ Perfect for anyone who played in band and still has their instrument in the closet
Who Can Participate?

The 250th Anniversary
For 2026, Sousapalooza is going big for America's 250th birthday. The goal: 50 simultaneous Sousapaloozas across the country, all playing Sousa marches in public spaces. Vermont can be one of them!
