A proclamation is an official statement from a government official (Governor, Mayor, Selectboard) recognizing Make Music Day. Proclamations:

WHEREAS, Make Music Vermont is an annual one-day festival on the first day of summer that celebrates the ability of everyone to make music, presented by local chapters across the Green Mountain State; and

WHEREAS, Make Music Vermont is a day of music-making in public spaces throughout Vermont—from town greens and covered bridges to front porches and general stores—all completely free for musicians and audiences alike; and

WHEREAS, Make Music Vermont takes place on June 21, 2026, inspired by France's national musical holiday "FĂŞte de la Musique" that began in 1982 and is now an international phenomenon celebrated on the Summer Solstice in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries; and

WHEREAS, Make Music Vermont joins a national movement of "Make Music" cities that includes New York, Chicago, Houston, Miami, Philadelphia, and Nashville; and

WHEREAS, Make Music Vermont involves musicians, bands, and ensembles from a diverse array of styles and genres, including classical, jazz, blues, folk, Americana, rock, and world music; and

WHEREAS, on June 21, 2026, Make Music Vermont will bring together Vermonters of all ages, musical genres, and ability levels—from students and amateurs to professionals and touring artists—to gather in communities across the state to celebrate the joy of making music;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, [Governor's Name], Governor of the State of Vermont, do hereby proclaim June 21, 2026 to be

MAKE MUSIC VERMONT DAY

and encourage all Vermonters to celebrate the joy of making and experiencing live music in their communities.

How to Request a Proclamation

For Governor's Proclamation

  1. Contact the Governor's Office (typically January–March)
  2. Submit your request in writing with:
    • Proposed proclamation language
    • Brief description of Make Music Vermont
    • Date of event (June 21)
    • Your contact information
  3. Follow up to confirm receipt and timeline
  4. If approved, coordinate pickup or mailing of signed proclamation
  5. Request a photo opportunity if possible

For Local Proclamations
